The project titled Houses of the City of Sun is a screen-printed image on drywall of a newspaper clipping featuring ads for properties available for sale or rent in Tehran, Iran. This small newspaper clipping was accidentally and unknowingly brought by the my uncle, who recently emigrated from Iran to the United States as a refugee.

The title, a direct translation from one of these ads, serves as a poetic representation of my research and exploration of bodily connection to architecture. The use of fragmented pieces of drywall highlights the desire to carry one’s home across borders, underscoring the dual meaning of the word “passage”—not only as the body’s movement through space but also presenting as small narrations of a larger story.
