Through the Shattered Glass talks about our human desire to diminish the anxiety of “the unsettling” and our efforts to hold “the fallen” together. This sculpture uses the fragility of objects as the purpose of its existence. The glass is frozen in time, between the moments of functionality and annihilation. The piece has the potential of holding objects and emphasizes the space inside a cubical sculpture, a place where things can be shown in captivity. Through the Shattered Glass questions whether we, as the audience, are looking in through the glass or the negative space inside is looking out at us and the world outside.
